New Anthropic App Targets Work Tasks

Anthropic launches Claude Duet, a business-focused AI agent that automates workflows for professionals and small teams.

For professionals and small business owners, the daily grind of managing tasks just got a little easier. Anthropic has rolled out a new application designed to handle work-related duties automatically. The tool is built specifically for business users rather than general consumers. It aims to save time by managing complex workflows in the background. This new option adds another choice to a crowded market of AI helpers. The company hopes to capture attention from those who need more than a simple chatbot.

The new agent, called Claude Duet, is distinct from personal assistants. Anthropic clarifies that it is not designed for personal errands. It will not book tickets or manage household chores. It also does not show users its live browser activity. Instead, the focus is strictly on professional productivity. The system is built to understand and manage work data. This distinction sets it apart from competitors that target personal use cases.

Duet operates by building daily briefings and creating dashboards. It suggests actions based on the specific data of the user. The agent can work on tasks in the background. It uses its own virtual machine to do this work. This allows users to handle other duties simultaneously. The system will return for approval if it needs input. This background processing is a key feature of the new platform.

The launch happens as the industry shifts toward autonomous agents. Many competitors are now focusing on business applications. Meta’s Muse has a version for small businesses. OpenAI’s Dots also integrates with professional tools. Anthropic is joining this specific segment of the market. The company wants to compete directly with these established players. The goal is to offer a robust solution for work automation.

Duet uses the Claude Opus 5.5 model to function. It can connect to over 6,000 different tools and plugins. These are available in the Claude Marketplace. The agent can also make online purchases on behalf of users. It uses Stripe’s Link or Shopify’s Shop Pay for this. However, sensitive steps like payments require user approval. The system will not trade securities or move money between accounts without permission.

Security is a major focus for the new release. Anthropic introduced a new classifier for this purpose. It checks each message to prevent data leaks. By default, the agent will reject requests for sensitive info. This includes credit card numbers and government IDs. This feature aims to protect user privacy. It ensures that confidential data stays secure during operations.

The app is currently available for iOS and Android users. It is also accessible via the web through Claude.ai. The service is in a research preview phase. It is available to Pro and Max customers. Users must join a waitlist to get access. The rollout is gradual as the company tests the system. This approach allows for adjustments before a wider release.
